In 1865, William Booth, aided by his wife Catherine, formed an evangelical group dedicated to preaching, feeding, shelter and rehabilitation among the people living in the midst of appalling poverty in London's East End. The Salvation Army in Spokane today continues this commitment to meeting fundamental human needs and is unique in its programs - From Sally's House, our emergency foster-care home, to Stepping Stones, our answer to the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
